Hockey School (U6 / Skating School)

* Hockey School, also known as U6 and skating school, is for 4 year olds (b 2022).  Children who are 5 years old (b 2021) can also register for hockey school if they do not have any skating skills, or in U7  If your child was born in 2020 and you wish they attend hockey school, please email our registrar: [email protected]

* Participants are taught the basics of hockey and skating with Rich Vrataric and his instructors with the Millennium Hockey Academy.  We follow the predesigned Hockey Canada program for skill building at this age.

* Hockey School is designed to teach the basics of skating, getting up from the ice, forward skating and balance.

* Hockey School will see the players always on the ice together in one group. This level is strictly about learning the skills of hockey through small area games, skill stations and is all about having fun and learning!

* Ice time for Hockey School (IP) is Saturday morning.  There are no formal games.

U7

* Players turning 5 or 6 years old this year (b 2020 or 2021) can register for U7

* Players at this level are generally not in their first year of hockey, or they are new to Hockey but have some skating skills and are confident on the ice.

* U7 Participants should have basic skating skills. Children need to be able to be on the ice without a parent and must be able to fall down, stand up, move on their own and be independent on the ice.

* Ice times for U7 are Saturday and Sunday mornings, with one practice and one half ice game.

* During games, a coach is always on the ice helping the players

Yes, if our instructors determine in the first few weeks that they have exceptional skills, they can move to U7 so long as there is room in that division
